THE STUDIO
A considered approach to creating homes with character, permanence, and a strong sense of place.
A+S Collective Designs is a Dallas-based residential interior design studio. The studio creates layered, highly personal interiors through thoughtful renovation, architectural detailing, custom furnishings, art, and collected pieces.
Rooted in an appreciation for traditional architecture and the individuality of each home, A+S approaches every project with equal attention to beauty, function, and the way a space will be lived in over time.
ANDY DOUGHTY
Founder + Principal Designer
Andy founded A+S Collective Designs after years of renovating homes of his own, helping friends rethink their spaces, and realizing that design was where his natural instincts and experience came together most clearly.
Before starting the firm, Andy spent nine years as a high school English teacher. That background still has a real influence on the way he works. He listens carefully, asks thoughtful questions, and knows how to sort through a lot of information to find the idea that should lead the project. For him, good design starts with understanding how a client lives, what they are drawn to, and what will make a home feel more like their own.
Andy is especially drawn to older houses and the details that give them character. His work often begins with the architecture—layout, millwork, materials, lighting, and proportion—and then builds through furnishings, textiles, art, antiques, and the smaller decisions that make a room feel layered rather than simply finished.
His approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and highly personal. The goal is never to impose a house style, but to create interiors that feel appropriate to the home, reflective of the people who live there, and as though they could not have happened any other way.
Based in Dallas, Andy works with clients throughout Texas and beyond on renovations, new construction, and full-service furnishing projects.
STEVEN REKER
Co-Founder + Strategist Advisor
Steven brings an analytical perspective and a strong understanding of business, construction, and the built environment to A+S Collective Designs. A petroleum engineer with an MBA, Steven has been involved in the studio since its beginning and continues to support its long-term strategy and operations.
His technical background, financial insight, and shared appreciation for architecture have been integral to the growth of A+S.
THE A+S APPROACH
A home should feel considered, but never overly composed. A+S begins with the architecture—studying proportion, circulation, material, and light—before building layers through custom furnishings, textiles, antiques, art, and objects with history.
The result is not a prescribed house style, but an interior that feels appropriate to its setting, reflective of its owners, and capable of becoming richer with time.
